Seville has the only science and technology park in Europe devoted entirely to the aerospace industry: Aerópolis, an industrial complex that brings together some 90 companies in the sector. For two decades, work has been carried out here on advanced developments in the aeronautical industry, with an outstanding focal point: the Airbus A400M.
The City of Seville Space Forum was created in 2018, an initiative of the Seville City Council, which aims to boost the Andalusian aerospace sector by attracting international experts. Together with this Forum, the meeting point of the space sector is being established in the city: the Andalusian Space Conference.
In 2019, Seville was the European Space Capital and held the presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities. That year, the Seville Space Forum was held with the aim of making the local and Andalusian industry visible to the main players in the space sector at a European level, and Fibes hosted the Intermediate Ministerial Meeting of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Fibes contributes to placing Seville at the centre of the debate on research and development in the aerospace industry. The programme of new events specialised in the aerospace world is a strategic issue for the working group created by Sevilla City Office and Fibes together with the University of Seville and the Andalusia Aerospace Cluster (which brings together 50 companies).
In 2022, there will be new events and milestones to boost this momentum, such as the Event of the Space Ecosystem in Andalusia, the Aerospace & Defence Meeting, and UNVEX (Unmanned Vehicle Exhibition).
