Here are 10 professional events that you should not miss.
As every year, Fibes hosts the most important flamenco fashion event, SIMOF, which will be held between 3 and 6 February. The 27th edition of the Salón Internacional de Moda Flamenca (International Flamenco Fashion Show) is especially important because, after the cancellation of its edition in 2021 due to the incidence of the Covid-19 pandemic, it represents the resurgence of the industry in Seville, after two years without celebrating its festivities. With more than 70,000 visitors in the four days of its previous edition, more than 98 professionals and more than 40 professional parades in which around 1700 costumes were presented, it seeks to resume its prominent position as an engine of the Andalusian economy.
The 4th edition of the largest fair of organic products and responsible consumption in Spain will bring together more than 220 exhibitors with almost 10,000 references and activities on organic food, natural cosmetics, sustainable fashion, etc. between the 11th and 13th of March. This event expects to exceed the 13,000 visitors of previous editions, being a showcase for Andalusian production, one of the autonomous communities with the most active organic products industry.
Seville is getting ready to host a new multidisciplinary gaming event full of activities for professionals in the video games sector. Sevilla Gaming Xperience (SGX) will come to Fibes on 26 and 27 March in an event for video game companies, manufacturers, developers, distributors, professionals, students, entrepreneurs, influencers, fans and players. It will also serve as a driving force for the video game industry in Andalusia, as the 3rd edition of the GameInvest investment programme will be held in parallel.
The initiative, coordinated by Fibes, is part of the Seville City Council’s project to promote innovation, technology and sustainable development in Spain, which also has a clear tendency towards internationalisation. The Blue Economy is based on the development of the oceans and their environment, seeking both sustainability and ecological growth. The aim of the meeting, which will take place on 28 and 29 April, is to promote these strategies and raise awareness among companies, administrations and citizens of an economy that provides more than 300,000 jobs and contributes between 8 and 10% of the Community’s GDP.
The Congreso de Deporte y Actividad Física “Ciudad de Sevilla”, promoted by the Universidad Pablo Olavide of Seville together with Fibes, will bring together training sessions and recreational and sporting activities on 19 and 20 May, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of physical activity in improving people’s quality of life. CODES has the clear objective of boosting the local economy through sport, health and wellbeing.
CODES was the prelude to this international event, which will be held in Fibes from 30 August to 2 September 2022. This congress will be attended by 3,000 researchers and experts in Sports Science from fifty countries. Like the organization that gives it its name, the congress aims to promote science and sport in the region, with a special focus on the interdisciplinary fields of sports science and sports medicine.
Seville becomes the world headquarters of the football industry for the next three years. It is an event with clubs, companies and international organizations, along with speakers such as elite footballers and executives from FIFA, UEFA and the different European leagues. In its previous edition, held in Madrid, it brought together 600 attendees in person and more than 1,500 online, with coverage from journalists from all over the world. For 28 and 29 September in Fibes, the aim is to recover the on-site format that existed before the pandemic, with an estimated economic impact on the city of 18.5 million euros.
The event, which will take place from 18 to 20 October at the Palacio de Congresos, will turn Seville into the world capital of mining. The previous edition was attended by more than 900 congress participants of 17 nationalities and 70 speakers in a first class scientific programme, reaching 10,000 registered visits and 2,000 business meetings. This year it aims to highlight innovation, digitalisation and mineral electrification in order to face the great social transformation.
The benchmark event in the tourism sector, where industry leaders share success stories and new business models to redefine a new era for tourism, will once again be held in Seville. The event, which brought together more than 5,000 participants at Fibes in 2021, is not only a sectoral event, but also a showcase to attract investment capital to the Andalusian capital and makes clear the role of the tourism sector in the international economy, which represents 14.4% of the world’s GDP. Between 2 and 4 November, the TIS will also discuss innovation strategies to maintain the sector’s leading role, which has been undermined by the pandemic.
GSTC Annual International Congress
Fibes has been chosen to host the annual technical congress of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) where 400 delegates from the United Nations, governments and businesses will discuss sustainable tourism practices. The event, which will be held between 12 and 14 December, comes at a particularly important time for Seville, which, after becoming a full member of the GSTC in July 2021, seeks to explore alliances and strategies to join forces to achieve more responsible tourism.
